MORENO VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL

“Excellence on Purpose”

Dear Parents, Families, and Community Members:

As the Principal of Moreno Valley High School, I am energized and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of our students.  I am honored for the opportunity to continue the great work began by those who served before me. We will accomplish this by setting high academic expectations and ensuring that the appropriate support systems are in place to attain optimum results.   We will adhere to the Mission and Strategic Plan of Moreno Valley Unified School District.

At Moreno Valley High School, we uphold the Viking Code of Honor: Respectful, Responsible, and Resilient. The staff of Moreno Valley High school is committed to “Excellence on Purpose”. Our goal is to continue to maintain a safe environment conducive to learning as well as to provide students with the necessary academic/social skills which will empower them to be functioning members of our community and to be college and career ready.

Moreno Valley High School is an AVID Demonstration school, a distinction that has only been given to 135 schools nationwide. Our school also offers a variety of academic programs aligned to The California Standards and programs that help develop the social and emotional competency of our students.  We offer programs such as Building Assets and Reducing Risk (BARR)freshman intervention program, English 3D program for English Learners, AVID, Core and Elective Honors and AP classes, and Career Technical Education classes. In addition, our school has a growing Visual and Performing Arts department offering Orchestra and Marching Band, Choir, Ballet Folkloric, Advanced Art, and Ceramics.

Our repertoire of offerings also includes: Advance Journalism, Law Enforcement/Corrections and Rehab Services, Business Academy, Teacher Career Academy, Welding Technology, Mandarin Language, French, and Mariachi. Our School is also digitally ready and each student is assigned a 1:1 take home device.  Students have personal email and Google Drive accounts and are able to access Google Docs, Google Classroom, Quest, SCHMOOP, and other computer based academic programs and applications

Moreno Valley High School is also under modernization with site renovations and improvements. Buildings J and L have been completely modernized and equipped with the latest in technology and furniture which supports 21st Century Learning. Our new 30 classroom S Wing was completed in January of 2018 and the Viking Gym will be completed by Fall of 2018. Also, added to our site will be new state of the art buildings such as a Performing Arts Center which will seat over 600 and a Culinary Arts building which will house our Culinary Arts Academy.  The expected completion date for all projects will be during the Fall of 2021.
