Dear Parents, Families, and Community Members of Moreno Valley High School:
As the Principal of Moreno Valley High School, I am energized and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of our students. I am honored for the opportunity to serve the community of Moreno Valley High School as we conquer the challenges brought on by COVID 19. Although our 2020-21 school year began with all students receiving instruction through distance learning we will continue setting high academic expectations and ensuring that the appropriate support systems are in place to attain optimum results. I believe that together we can do this!
At Moreno Valley High School, we uphold the Viking Code of Honor: Respectful, Responsible, and Resilient whether it be in person or virtually. The staff of Moreno Valley High school is committed to “Excellence on Purpose”. Our focus is to build positive relationships, hosts a culturally responsive environment, and provide multitiered systems of support in efforts to raise student achievement empowering our students to be college and career ready and functioning members of our community.
Moreno Valley High School is an AVID Demonstration school, a distinction that has only been given to 135 schools nationwide. Our school offers a variety of academic programs aligned to The California Standards and as well as those that help build the social and emotional competency of our students. We offer programs such as Building Assets and Reducing Risk (BARR)freshman intervention program, English 3D program for English Learners, AVID, Core and Elective Honors and AP classes, and Career Technical Education classes. In addition, our school has a growing Visual and Performing Arts department offering Orchestra and Marching Band, Choir, Ballet Folkloric, Advanced Art, and Ceramics. As a 21st Century Learning Exemplar School, our teachers provide the opportunity for students to demonstrate learning experiences through collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking.
Our repertoire of offerings also includes: Robotics, Advanced Journalism, Dual Enrollment, Law Enforcement/Corrections and Rehab Services, Business Academy, Contemporary Digital Media, Welding Technology, Mandarin Language, French, and Mariachi. Our School is also digitally ready and each student is assigned a 1:1 take home device. Students have personal email and Google Drive accounts and are able to access Online Textbooks, Google Docs, Google Classroom, Quest, SCHMOOP, Clever, Zoom, Screen Castify, and other computer based academic programs and applications.
Moreno Valley High School is currently in the final phases of modernization with site renovations and improvements. Our Viking Gymnasium along with Buildings A, M, N, J, L, and our Guidance and Career Center have been completely modernized and equipped with the latest in technology and furniture which supports 21st Century Learning. Our new 30 classroom S Wing was completed in January of 2018. Also, added to our site will be a newly modernized Multi-Purpose Room, Library, Cafeteria, and new state of the art buildings such as a Performing Arts Center which will seat over 600 and a Culinary Arts building which will house our Culinary Arts Academy.
